December 20, 2026 – Fueling Freedom applauds the U.S. Senate for confirming four of President Trump’s nominees to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors. While the confirmations do not yet bring the Board to its full authorized capacity, they represent an important step toward restoring strong, stable leadership at one of the most critical public energy institutions in the country.
The Senate voted by a count of 53-47 to confirm Mitch Graves of Tennessee, Jeff Hagood of Tennessee, Randall Jones of Alabama, and Arthur Graham of Florida. This will be the first available quorum for TVA since April.
With the addition of four new directors, the TVA Board once again reaches quorum, allowing the body to conduct essential business and provide oversight on key issues such as nuclear development, grid modernization, economic development, environmental stewardship, and long-term energy planning. These confirmations ensure that the Board can continue its work with new voices and fresh perspective, even as additional vacancies remain to be filled.
At Fueling Freedom, we have long emphasized the importance of strong institutional leadership when it comes to American energy security and independence. TVA plays a vital role in delivering reliable, affordable electricity to over 10 million people across seven states. It is also a key player in infrastructure investment, power generation, and flood control—all of which demand experienced, balanced, and accountable governance.
Although we continue to advocate for a fully confirmed TVA Board, we recognize that achieving quorum with new appointees is a meaningful and necessary accomplishment. We commend the Senate for acting in a timely manner to confirm these nominees and provide TVA with the operational stability it needs to fulfill its mission.
The Tennessee Valley deserves a Board that reflects its scale and complexity, and we urge continued momentum to confirm the remaining nominees and reach full capacity. In the meantime, we are encouraged by the renewed sense of purpose and direction these new directors bring to the table.
Fueling Freedom remains committed to supporting energy leadership that is transparent, resilient, and rooted in American strength. The confirmation of these board members is a win for American energy dominance, and a step in the right direction for the communities that depend on TVA every day.
