November 20, 2025 – A major energy resurgence is taking shape along the U.S. Gulf Coast, and it is being powered by natural gas. According to a new Bloomberg report, the United States is experiencing its largest natural gas pipeline expansion since 2008. Twelve major projects are scheduled for completion in 2026 across Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Together, these new systems will add enough capacity to supply an entire country the size of Canada. This momentum reflects a decisive step forward in America’s efforts to strengthen energy independence and reclaim global energy leadership.
At Fueling Freedom, we view this buildout as a powerful example of the energy vision promoted by President Trump. Although many of these pipelines were in development before his second term began, they now align directly with his commitment to expand U.S. natural gas exports, modernize domestic infrastructure, and deliver more reliable and affordable energy for American families as well as allies around the world.
The list of major projects includes Enbridge’s Rio Bravo Pipeline serving South Texas and the 366‑mile Blackcomb Pipeline transporting natural gas from the Permian Basin. Companies such as Enbridge, Energy Transfer, Kinder Morgan, Targa Resources, Williams, and others are investing billions to connect abundant supplies of Texas gas to the liquefied natural gas export terminals under construction along the Gulf Coast. These pipelines will play a central role in fueling the next generation of LNG terminals that begin operations in 2027 and beyond.
Global demand for natural gas is strong and expected to grow significantly. Forecasts show that LNG demand could rise by nearly one third by 2030. Countries in Europe and Asia are also turning to the United States as a reliable and responsible supplier, especially as they work to replace coal and reduce emissions. American LNG is cleaner and more dependable than energy sourced from unstable or adversarial nations. This makes pipeline investment not only a matter of economic opportunity but also an important element of national security and international leadership.
In the Permian Basin, pipeline capacity has been so tight that natural gas prices have fallen below zero multiple times this year. Producers have been forced to pay buyers to take gas or burn excess supply. New pipelines like Energy Transfer’s 442‑mile Hugh Brinson line will help solve this issue by opening up new pathways to data centers, LNG export facilities, and industrial users across Texas and Louisiana. Energy Transfer expects this project to become the most profitable asset it has ever built, driven in part by rising energy demand from artificial intelligence operations.
A major reason for this rapid development is the supportive regulatory climate in states like Texas and Louisiana. These states welcome energy infrastructure and provide clear, predictable permitting processes. Because many of the new pipelines do not cross state lines, they avoid lengthy federal reviews and are less vulnerable to the legal challenges that have stalled projects in other parts of the country.
This pipeline boom represents more than construction activity. It functions as a national strategy that directly supports Fueling Freedom’s core priorities:
- Energy Exploration and Development: Increased pipeline capacity ensures that producers can continue drilling without waste or economic loss.
- Infrastructure Investment: New pipelines bring billions of dollars in long-term infrastructure that create jobs and strengthen local economies.
- Technological Innovation: Natural gas is powering data centers, advanced manufacturing, and digital industries that require reliable energy.
- Economic Growth and Job Creation: Each project supports high-quality jobs and adds to regional economic strength.
- Global Energy Leadership: Increased LNG exports help allies reduce dependence on adversarial energy suppliers.
- Regulatory Reform: State leadership is cutting through unnecessary barriers and encouraging timely, effective development.
At a time when anti-energy activists continue to attack the infrastructure that keeps our country running, this wave of pipeline construction demonstrates what practical and forward-looking energy policy can achieve. The world needs more American energy, and the Gulf Coast is proving once again that the United States is ready to meet that demand.
America is building again. The future of energy leadership is taking shape, and the Gulf Coast is leading the way.
